Tezuka Architects is a Tokyo practice founded in 1994 by the married architects Takaharu Tezuka (born 1964) and Yui Tezuka. Takaharu studied at the Musashi Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania and spent four years with the Richard Rogers Partnership in London before the two set up their office. Their buildings, many of them houses, schools and hospitals, put human activity and connection first. The practice received the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture in 2017.

The Roof House in Hadano (2001) won the Japan Institute of Architects Prize and the Yoshioka Prize in 2002. The Echigo-Matsunoyama Museum of Natural Science (Kyororo) (2003) is a 160-metre structure of weathering steel plates weighing about 2,000 tonnes, whose rust protects it from further corrosion; its name comes from the call of the ruddy kingfisher. Fuji Kindergarten in Tachikawa (2007) is an open-air school built on the idea that children need not be forced to learn: trees grow up through it for children to climb, and crates rather than walls divide the classes. In 2011 the OECD named it the best of its exemplary educational buildings.
