His own projects include the Moriyama House in Tokyo (2005). The Towada Art Center (2008) opened as part of a project to revive the city of Towada, and the Teshima Art Museum (2010), on an island in Japan's Seto Inland Sea, is a single concrete shell 25 centimetres thick, 40 by 60 metres and four metres high at most, holding one work by the artist Rei Naito. He later completed the Hiroshi Senju Museum Karuizawa (2011) and the Garden & House in Tokyo (2011). With Sejima, as SANAA, he designed the New Museum in New York (2007), a stack of white boxes on the Bowery. Ryue Nishizawa's work is studied for thin structure and spaces that blur inside and out.
