Ammar Khammash (born 1960) is a Jordanian architect, designer and artist of Palestinian background whose buildings are rooted in Jordan's landscapes and building traditions. He studied architecture and ethnoarchaeology at the University of Southwestern Louisiana in the United States and began his career with restoration work in Jordan. His projects draw on local craft, ecological and social sustainability and recycled materials, mixing traditional Jordanian building techniques with modern materials. With the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature he restored the abandoned village of Dana and built a guesthouse for the Dana reserve, creating one of Jordan's first eco-tourism sites. He is also a painter, photographer and writer, designed the 4th and 5th series of Jordanian dinar banknotes, and in 2019 received the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture.
